"What can we do to help?"
Between missing work, medical bills, and life in general, financially, this will be a trial. Best case scenario, Jeremy will be out of work for an estimated 14+ weeks. FBAC does not offer disability leave, but he will have the FMLA for 12 weeks, so no concern of job loss - yeah!!! Jeremy used up quite a bit of his vacation days when his illness came back with a vengeance the first part of the year. Like previously mentioned, if everything goes 100% smooth, Jeremy will be going into surgery (Laparoscropic Ileocolectomy with Pull Through) on July 23rd and stay in the hospital 4-6 days. This first surgery will be removing the colon and an internal reservoir and temporary loop ileostomy is created. (English - remove large intestine/colon and Jer will have a colostomy bag) Six weeks later, he will be readmitted to the hospital and the ileostomy is closed and the small intestine is stretched and connected to the rectum. 4-6 days later, he will be released and sent home to heal up for another six weeks. The surgery was scheduled on the 23rd so we could have the Holiday weekend to be in the hospital. Kami has 6 days vacation available and will be hopefully using 3 days to spend at the hospital with Jeremy for the first surgery and then using the other 3 for the second surgery. Of course, as always, there will probably need to be extra missed days during these 12 weeks at home. Please pray with us, that everything goes smoothly and there aren't too many bumps in the road during all of this.
So, back to the title - "What can we do to help?" This is the question that has been asked by quite a few people. Kris (Kami's sister in law) and family, have set up an account that donations can be made for the family at any:
We want to say a huge Thank You to all of our family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and everyone in between!!! This has been an extremely humbling experience and also a rough one. We feel confident in the doctor that we have chosen to perform surgery and pray that nothing goes wrong. Of course, Kami is nervous as ever because of thoughts of her mom, and Jeremy is cool as a cucumber!! We really do appreciate everyone who has been there for us. A shoulder to cry on, someone to just talk to, the sleepovers, everything! Together, with all of you, we will make it through this!!!!!
Loves to all!!!
