So for probably about 3-4 years now Kevin has had this obsession with pygmy goats. He has a few in the valley that he frequently drives by to visit and he has really wanted to get one, but I just didn't see how that would be possible. I told him that we don't have a fence in our backyard and it would eat our trees and garden and it just wouldn't work out. Well his birthday is coming up and I was joking about his obsession with pygmy goats with my sisters and mom one day and somebody said I should get one for his birthday and leave it at my parents house. I laughed and thought yeah that would be a great gift and sort of dismissed it. Well I couldn't get it out of my head and I started to look into it. At first I was having the hardest time finding one. They were really far away and would have to be flown here and it was really expensive, but I finally found someone local that had a few babies for sale. To be honest I have no idea why I didn't think of them in the first place because Kevin keeps telling them he wants to buy a goat from them. So then I started to research everything that they would need and finally decided that if I just got a big dog kennel/run with a large dog house inside of it, that would work fine. So finally, we got a pygmy goat. I gave it to Kevin early because I just didn't want to deal with the hassle of trying to get everything over to my parents house until his birthday. He was really surprised, I wish I would have got the video camera out for it. I kept telling him I had the perfect b-day gift for him but he never expected this. She is only a couple of months old and her name is chewy. She has been a lot of fun so far. The kids absolutely love her, I think by the time summer is over they will have fed her all of the leaves off of our apple tree. She loves to be taken out on a leash and every time we stop playing with her and go in the house she bleats for about 20 minutes.
